Tennis Court Update

New Colors for the Tennis Court

In another week, the tennis court surface will be refinished and new colors will be painted according to the illustration above.

These are new colors for our court and will make it consistent with the colors used in professional tennis. These new colors are upbeat, lively, and exciting.

As noted in previous posts, the tennis court surface developed large and numerous cracks that required a new one-inch-thick layer of asphalt. The next process includes filling in gaps and depressions to make the court level, adding a base coat of paint, and then two final coats of paint that include fine sand to give the surface a gritty non-slip texture.

The new fence is being installed now and California corners will be added to eliminate the boxy enclosure of the past. Angled corners will make it easier to retrieve tennis balls because the angle causes the balls to roll toward the player rather than getting stuck in the corner. In addition, the sides of the fence will be reduced to four feet making the court feel more open and inviting.

Thankfully, the new court will be ready just in time for the Southchase 6 Summer Games event on June 25, 2022. Go to the website now to learn more and RSVP for the event and all the games in which you wish to compete. Your family and friends are also invited to join you in the fun, food, music, and prizes. For those of you not competing, you can enjoy food and drinks while you sit at the tables and chairs under the tent, listen to music, and meet new neighbors. Bring the little ones for a fun and wet day in the bounce house and water slide. Check-in time for the event begins at 9am. Don't miss this event!

Thank you for being a member of the Southchase 6 community!
